Overview

The Senior Catastrophe Modeling Analyst is responsible for quantifying the catastrophe risk on inward and outward reinsurance contracts of Arch Re. The analyst is also expected to contribute to the team's efforts on better understanding the company's catastrophe risk exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize third-party catastrophe models to obtain estimates of catastrophe risk of Arch Re's cedents.
  • Validate and interprest cat model outputs to ensure accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Produce comprehensive reports to present cedents' catastrophe exposure.
  • Independently manage cat pricing for both simple and complex reinsurance submissions.
  • Review and sign off on the cat pricing work completed by other analysts.
  • Answer queries regarding catastrophe risk and exposures from underwriters, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Lead or contribute to various projects involving research and development, exposure management and reporting, and process improvement within the cat modeling team.
  • Act as a key resource person for training new team members or for facilitating cross-functional training initiatives with other teams.

Mandatory Requirements:

·        Advanced analytical skills with demonstrated experience in Python/R and SQL.

·        Experience in the re/insurance industry in an analytical capacity.

·        Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

·        Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse and dynamic team.

·        Willingess to work beyond regular office hours during peak seasons, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as necessary.

Additional Recommended Experience:

·        Familiarity with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) is advantageous.

·        Adaptive to changing requirements and adept at quickly learning new processes and technologies.

·        Possession of relevant industry credentials or designation such as CEEM, CPCU, etc., is preferred

Education

  • Graduate of any quantitative course, preferably in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Physical Sciences, or Engineering.
