Overview

Your Role

You will provide support to the actuarial pricing team in Excess Casualty & Accident and Disability. These units provide commercial line products of Accident, Disability, Excess General Liability, & Excess Auto Liability to specialized products, requiring communication and creativity due to the limited data that exists in Excess Casualty layers.

  • Profitability Reviews Review products by applying actuarial concepts and techniques to determine portfolio profitability; analyzing and digging into detailed segmentations; and providing insight to our business partners.
  • Build our underwriting and actuarial tools.
  • Lead research efforts to advance our sophistication and pricing edge in excess casualty.

Responsibilities

  • Actuarial studies: parameters, book profitability and segmentation
  • Monitoring and reporting – price monitors, benchmarks
  • Tool development – programming and testing tools like pricing models, collateral tools, dashboards
  • Ad-hoc analysis requests from actuaries or business unit

Required Skills/Experience

  • Curiosity, motivation, and ability to self-teach
  • Takes pride of ownership in their work – detail oriented, committed to accuracy and quality
  • Knowledge of computer programming languages, such as SQL, Python, and VBA is required.
  • Understanding of insurance and actuarial concepts and methodologies
  • Strong analytical, database, and Excel skills
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong team player with leadership attributes
  • Hours will be 9am-6pm EST with option to switch to earlier shift after one year.

Education

  • Bachelors degree with a concentration in a quantitative discipline such as actuarial science, statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, or operations research
  • 2 to 5 years of casualty actuarial work experience
  • 2 to 4 casualty actuarial exams
